In 1997, Midco Waste Systems became part of the team at Republic Services, Inc. Republic Services is America's second-largest non-hazardous solid waste services company and has the most experienced management team in the industry. Headquartered in Phoenix, AZ, Republic Services provides waste collection, transfer, recycling and disposal services to approximately 13 million commercial, industrial, municipal and residential customers in 40 states and Puerto Rico. Midco Waste Systems is committed to excellence in all areas of our business so that we can serve our customers better. We demonstrate this commitment by investing in equipment and technology and, most importantly, by investing in people. To protect our customers, employees and our environment, we provide extensive training for our work force. Our drivers are trained in the Smith System, a driver training program that promotes defensive driving. Additionally our drivers complete the "Coaching the Refuse Driver" training program implemented by the National Solid Waste Management Association. Each month training meetings are held to review topics such as safe lifting, hazard communication, accident review, LockOut-TagOut, confined space awareness, spill prevention and control and many other topics related to trash collection and driving safety.
